Music, editions and recording details
Miles Smiles captures Miles Davis's second great quintet in the studio in 1966. Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams create an exceptionally open musical conversation around six compositions.
The second quintet
Shorter's Footprints shows the group's rhythmic interplay. Eddie Harris's Freedom Jazz Dance and Jimmy Heath's Ginger Bread Boy are transformed through collective improvisation. This Speakers Corner edition preserves the original Columbia LP programme.
