Music, editions and recording details
Six jazz pianists, one piano: Mystère Piano is a musical and recording experiment comparing six performers on the same Steinway & Sons concert grand built in New York in 1930. Riccardo Zegna, Paolo Birro, Antonio Zambrini, Marcello Tonolo, Oscar Del Barba and Massimo Parente alternate across eleven original pieces and interpretations. The instrument, its position and the microphone setup were kept identical, placing the emphasis on each pianist's touch and musical personality.

Recording and sound concept
Sessions took place over several months at Magister Area Studio in Preganziol, Italy, with the same 1930 Steinway in the same position and an unchanged microphone setup. The music was captured live in studio, without an audience or subsequent editing, to reveal the musicians' individual touch and sound. The sources do not establish one single recording date for all sessions.
