Music, editions and recording details

Guitar, alto saxophone and drums: Pietro Ballestrero, Danilo Pala and Paolo Franciscone form a trio without double bass, using spare arrangements that leave room for rhythm, harmony and phrasing. Pelle brings together Ballestrero compositions, a piece by Aldo Mella and collective improvisations, with Mediterranean melodic character and an exploration of instrumental colours. Recorded live in the studio in October 2008, the album preserves the three musicians’ interplay without digital editing.
