Music, editions and recording details

Guarda Avanti showcases the Sax Four Fun saxophone ensemble exploring jazz, blues, funk and improvisation without a conventional rhythm section. Across twelve pieces, compositions by Fiorenzo Zeni, William Tononi and Pepito Ros sit alongside interpretations of Carla Bley, Paolo Fresu and Bill Lee. The line-up varies between quartet and quintet, with Stefano Menato and Pepito Ros alternating on several pieces and all five saxophonists featured together on Abbamele.
